Get To Know Me

My name is Rebecca Skaggs. I am living in Los Angeles, California as a recent graduate from Syracuse University, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. I have a BA in Public Relations and minors in Music Industry and Sociology.

 

Growing up in L.A. provided me with the opportunity to interact with all different kinds of people. I attended public school and was involved in basketball and competitive Greek dancing. My interactions with my classmates and teammates sparked my interest in the world of communications. After coming to Syracuse, my interest has grown exponentially due to the variety of other students I meet and the organizations I am a part of. At Syracuse, I was a Newhouse Peer Advisor and the Vice President of Programming at WJPZ Radio.

 

Music is what I am most passionate about because of its ability to bring people together and change people's lives. So in the future, I hope to be able to find a career where my love of music and my knowledge of Public Relations can be utilized. Another passion of mine is working at St. Sophia Camp during the summer. Working with kids is extremely rewarding because I am able to develop management and leadership skills while helping kids find their true selves.

 

I am looking to work in an organization that values collaboration, interpersonal communication, and clearly outlined responsibility. I have interests in the music industry, specifically record labels, non-profit organizations that benefit children's personal development, the hospitality industry, especially theme parks that champion excellent guest service, and advocacy work to help reform the United States criminal legal system.

In my free time, I love to read, watch movies, learn new recipes, bake many desserts, listen to music, and spend time with my family and friends.
